Cancer Claims Life of Dedicated StAT Member
The StAT family experienced loss this week in the death of committee member, Leslie Hulse. Leslie lost her three-year battle with cancer at age 37. Despite her sickness, the Fishers (Ind.) police officer served faithfully on the Stand Against Trafficking (StAT) committee that hosted a September 9, 2009, in Indianapolis to inform community members about the dangers of human trafficking in the community. Leslie had a passion to expose and prevent human trafficking in the Indianapolis area.
"Leslie came into our lives as a police officer with the Fishers police force because she had a passion to make a difference in the lives of victims of human trafficking," says Martha Blackburn, StAT coordinator.
Very knowledgeable on the issue of human trafficking, Leslie educated and recruited others to join the anti-trafficking effort. In the midst of her work, she inspired many to also take a stand.
"Leslie was a true Christian activist, and inspired those around her to fight for justice for everyone," says Abby Whittington, also a StAT committee member.
